I have a big event coming up soon — my son’s wedding — and have been dragging my feet about finding a dress. Where we are living right now, there aren’t a lot of stores, and even I, the Thrift Shop Fashionista, don’t think I will buy my “mother of the groom” dress at a thrift shop.

So, we took a trip up to the city to start the dress shopping process, which I thought would involve many shopping trips.

The first thing I tried on was this silver/gray lacy dress and jacket. It didn’t really do anything for me. The fabric was stiff and uncomfortable, and I thought it looked matronly.

So, dress #2 was this long empire waist black and white dress.  I love the length of the jacket sleeves. I also love the fact that it is a petite, so wouldn’t need to be taken up.

You can’t really see, but there are sparkles all over the bodice and the jacket.

My husband was waiting outside the dressing room, so I stepped outside to see what he thought. Other shoppers immediately reacted to it, asking me to turn around and model it, and telling me I had to buy it.

So, I bought this one! Shortest shopping trip in history!

I actually will keep looking at dresses, but I didn’t want to let this one get away. I can always return it if I find something else.

Now to find shoes and jewelry to go along with it! Not to mention some kind of a body shaper for underneath. If you have recommendations, please leave them in the comments below!
