Anybody else have the Christmas blues?  We were watching the Patrick Stewart version of A Christmas Carol the other day and was struck by the “Christmas Present” scenes at the homes of Bob Cratchit and Scrooge’s nephew Fred. There was family, food, laughter and merriment but no piles of gifts and presents and I realized that it is the gift-giving aspect of it that makes Christmas so stressful for me. I’m not a very creative gift-giver, and I agonize over what to give people and whether they will like it or not. It makes me hate the very thought of Christmas! Bah, humbug!

Also, one thing I love about Christmas is all of the singing I get to do. But my chorus’ annual holiday show was cancelled due to weather, which was a huge disappointment. I then completely lost my voice, and was unable to do any more singing, so the musical part of the holiday just kind of fizzled out this year.

But, before I get you as far down in the dumps as I am, here’s a few other things that have been going on. I knew there was something odd about this Santa Claus, but couldn’t put my finger on it …

until I moved in for a closer look. Yikes!

I took heart from one of my chorus members who brought a dish to our holiday party that shows she obviously doesn’t agonize over doing the right thing!

We found some vintage Christmas cut-outs at a local thrift shop to liven up our apartment.

Saw this adrorable elf statue at the mall. Doesn’t he look so lifelike?

Missed my hubby while he was away for a few days and I had to do selfie Instagram photos! I’m wearing lots of thrifted sweaters this year!

And, of course, want to share some outfit posts. You’ve seen this pink puffer vest before, and will see it again, because it has become a favorite. The plum-colored pants in this photo are Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans, which I love because I the fit is good and they’re the perfect length, which is often elusive for me.

I thrifted this green Mac & Jac jacket for $3.00 and wore it over a Chico’s floral top ($2.00).

And, finally, a colorful cardigan over my new favorite ponte knit pants from White House Black Market, which I bought on clearance in the store.

On Christmas Day, when I see my family, all of these bah, humbug! feelings will be put to rest! I wish you all a very merry Christmas, happy holidays, and hope you all have a wonderful time with family and friends! Let’s look forward to a great new year!
