The Thrifted Chic Style Challenge on Instagram always inspires me to dig into my clothes and come up with a different way to mix and match things. Today, I’m using a dress as a tunic to go over leggings.
I love the comfort of leggings, but only like to wear them with a really long tunic to completely cover my thighs.
I rarely wear dresses anymore but when browsing the dress racks to find clothing for resale, I came across this Forever 21 dress and thought it would look good over leggings. Gone are the days where I would actually wear it as a dress! In fact, there never was a day when I would have done that!
It’s hard to see against the black leggings, but this is a black sweater dress with the striped overdress. The black dress underneath is as long as the striped overlay.
To add a little color, I chose a chunky necklace and bracelets from this month’s Thrifty Treasures Jewelry Subscription box. (I should have crossed my arms the other way to give a better look at the bracelets).
My leggings have a nice zipper detail at the ankle.
My husband had a little trouble snapping photos because I wouldn’t stop talking to him!
Total cost of this outfit was under $14 (minus shoes):
Forever 21 dress ($4.00 at Goodwill)
Black cardigan ($3.00 at a local thrift)
Black Iman leggings (50 cents at yard sale still with the tags on)
Jewelry thrifted by Thrifty Treasures ($5.71)

Maggie, you pulled this one together perfectly-This is something that I keep on a hanger together to have an instant chic ready to go outfit. I have hangers that have the extra bar with clips and keep a few total looks together so I don’t have to search for things. Love this one! Terri xox
