In my last blog post, I mentioned that I was getting ready for knee replacement surgery. I can’t believe that’s been three weeks ago already! Time flies when you’re having foreign things implanted in your body!
Michael snapped this photo of my chic hospital outfit the morning after surgery. I was up on my feet and out of there in less than 24 hours.
We decided to spend my recovery period at our vacation house at the Jersey shore because everything I need here is on one floor, so we had a two-hour drive home the day after surgery. But I had good painkillers, so the ride home wasn’t at all uncomfortable.
Week one was spent binge-watching Star Trek Voyager and The Great British Baking Show on Netflix (what a combo), elevating the knee and getting up to walk around every hour. I had thought it might be a nice change to be expected to do absolutely nothing. Instead, it was mind-numbingly boring!
The worse part about it? Because my leg was swollen and the knee full of staples, I could wear nothing but loose stretchy yoga and stretch pants. So what was a self-proclaimed “fashionista” to do? One way to make the basic pants and tee shirts look not quite so frumpy was to add some fun jackets, like this Rafaella zebra print zip up from Boscov’s.
and this Chico’s Zenergy hoodie, a favorite thrifted jacket:
During the second week, I graduated from the walker to a cane in and around my house.
Another way to jazz up a plain outfit was with some fun jewelry. The necklace and bracelet were from my Thrifty Treasures jewelry subscription box.
And this colorful necklace was a yard sale find last year.
The staples came out last week and I’ve been able to move beyond my sweats, but I think I did a pretty good job at keeping frump at bay!

I am glad your surgery went well. I love your jacket! So colorful and perfect. Wishing you a great long weekend!
