Continuing the black and white theme from my last post, I paired a basic black outfit with some colorful jewelry.
This next outfit brings together some old thrifted pieces: my oft-seen white denim jacket and white bermuda shorts with a chevron-print top. I love shorts that come to the knee and they’re so hard to find, so these will get a lot of wear this summer.
And here I’m in black and white with a pop of orange. We took a walk on the windy boardwalk, trying to get out and about every day.
Before my knee surgery, I was doing 10,000 steps per day. Right now, I’m doing 4,000 to 5,000, and the reduced steps have taken their toll. I’ve gained about four lbs. since surgery and this terrifies me!
We’ve joined a local fitness club. Right now, I’m doing the recumbent bicycle, stepper and elliptical at a pretty slow pace, focusing on bending and stretching and regaining range of motion on the knee. I’m hoping this will also help my right knee, which also has severe arthritis. I’d love to never have to face knee replacement surgery again!
The good news is that for shorter outings, I can now at seven weeks post-op go without using the cane. One such trip was to historic Smithville, NJ.
There are all kinds of little shops and a few restaurants. It was a beautiful day, warm and sunny, and it was so nice to walk and browse and feel almost normal again!
And I finally got to go back to the beach! We walked by the bay on the sand for the first time this season.
I was afraid after a series of nor’easters this winter that our beach had eroded and been lost, but that has proved not to be the case, though property owners did suffer some damage.
Another family was also out enjoying the sunset.
A lovely way to end the evening.

I love seeing the Jersey Shore! I now live in beautiful Wyoming , after 40 years in West Chester PA and summers at the shore!

Donna, nice to meet someone who remembers summers “down the shore”. I still love it after all these years. Wyoming is just as beautiful in quite a different way, I’m sure!
